Services

All services provided by Family Mediation West are delivered by professional mediators who are accountable to our service users.

Information sessions for parents
Each family situation is different, therefore we offer an introductory session to discuss the circumstances and decide the best course of action.
There are two main options:
- the initial discussion can provide support for parents to work out their own solutions
- parents can be referred to our other services or to external agencies

Mediation sessions
A trained mediator will help parents meet, discuss and make arrangements relating to future parenting after a separation.
Mediation will help parents discuss options in a calm and safe setting and agree constructive solutions to their problems. Mediation is available for issues regarding children and financial.

Contact Centres
Located in Glasgow, Kilmarnock and Ayr, our centres offer the following:
- a safe, welcoming place for children to meet family
- a pick up and drop off point for visits
- separate waiting areas ensure parents do not meet

Counselling for young people
Sometimes, children need someone other than parents or other relations to talk to, especially when their family is splitting up.
Our counselling service offers someone outside the family to talk to - and offers both privacy and understanding.

Please note, initial appointments at Family Mediation West are free of charge.  After the first session, we discuss the fees relating to the best course of action.  All charges are kept to a minimum, however as a charity we do not receive sufficient financial support to provide the professional services free of charge.
